China Plans To Buy The North
August 12, 2010: In the north, the market price of rice and corn rose about fifty percent. Part of this was due to heavy monsoon rains that caused damage to farms and crops. But mainly there’s a shortage of imported food. North Korea
has cut off free food aid from the UN, insisting that North Korea has sufficient food. This is not true, but truth doesn’t matter in the north. Massive starvation looms, but the government does not seem to be doing anything.
Meanwhile, desperate for foreign currency, North Korea has taken over South Korea tourist facilities (a resort and a large restaurant) that were closed by the North Korean government earlier this year. This sort of thing will discourage any further investment in North Korea, especially by South Korean firms. But what South Korea really fears is a North Korean agreement that would allow massive Chinese investment in North Korea. The Chinese investments would be safe, because the Chinese would not hesitate to send in troops to deal with any North Korean misbehavior. Large scale Chinese investment in the north would enable China to eventually take control of North Korea, and annex it. Many starving North Koreans would prefer to be prosperous Chinese, while North Koreans who opposed such an arrangement would be killed. China is still a communist police state, and knows how to act like one. This Chinese takeover would solve China’s problem with the growing economic decline and political instability in the north. The South Koreans are horrified at the thought, although China has taken control of the north before (in the distant past). China would apparently prefer not to have control of North Korea, but the growing problems there will not go away.
North Korea is going to have more problems with foreign currency, and their perpetual shortage of it. The U.S. is imposing more sanctions on North Korea, the same kind that annoyed the North Koreans so much five years ago (and were lifted when North Korea agreed to talk about their nuclear weapons program, but nothing came of those talks). This time around, the U.S. will try to shut down North Korean access to the international banking system. China can help North Korea get around these sanctions, but not completely. North Korea is not happy with these new sanctions, because they really hurt, especially when it comes to importing luxury goods for the tiny ruling class in North Korea.
The North Korean security forces continue their crackdown on all sources of dissent. This includes illegal churches. Dozens of clergy and lay leaders belonging to Christian sects have been sent to prison camps, where many of them were executed. The North Korea secret police have worked out an agreement with their Chinese counterparts to crack down on cross-border crime. This includes corruption among border guards from both countries, and smuggling in general. Corrupt practices are well entrenched on both sides of the border, and will probably be impossible to eliminate. But the corruption can be suppressed for a while, and that’s apparently what’s going on here.
North Korea has moved several of its elderly SA-5 missile launchers to bases near the DMZ. Back in the 1980s, North Korea bought twenty launchers, several radars and 350 SA-5 missiles from Russia. They have apparently kept some of this stuff operational, as American and South Korean electronic monitoring equipment occasionally picks up the signals put out by the SA-5 system search radar.
August 9, 2010: North Korean coastal artillery fired about a hundred shells into the Yellow Sea, just north of the South Korean border on the west coast. Some fish died, but there were otherwise no injuries. This was seen as a protest against recent naval exercises by South Korean and American forces. These exercises, and protests, have been going on for over half a century.

China is not only building 91 new International airports. Such airports will be able to lift millions of soldiers in a short notice when required. Beijing is also seeking naval bases in the Indian Ocean. They are building a new port in the Sri Lankan city of Hambantota, and also a new International airport on the island. China is also looking for military bases in the Middle East. They hope to get some soon, through corporation with Iran.
Military spending in China has grown about 10 percent annually over the last 15 years. The Chinese government’s published 2009 military budget was 70,3 billion US dollar.
Outlining that Chinese buildup was affecting regional military balance, Admiral Robert Willard, Commander of the US Pacific Command recently said, «China’s rapid and comprehensive transformation of its armed forces holds implications beyond the Asia-Pacific region».
China and Iran are interestingly the two nations on planet Earth that are having most soldiers and paramilitary troops. Iran has less then a million soldiers, but do have 11 million other armed men under Governmental command. The total of armed men available for the Ayatollah is 12 million.
The Peoples Republic of China has 2,2 million soldiers in uniform. But the communist regime also have 3,9 million paramilitary troops, kept to safeguard the revolution.
Combining their forces, China and Iran can mobilize close to 20 million men for war in the Middle East. That is already a tenth of the 200 million soldiers that will be used in the final war against Jerusalem, explained in the book of Revelation.

Scientists are raising the alert level for Cleveland Volcano in Alaska’s Aleutian chain after satellite data has indicated thermal anomalies.
Observatory today raised the level to advisory status.
There is no real-time seismic network at the volcano. Scientists say unrest there is frequent, and short-lived explosions with ash plumes up to 20,000 feet can occur without warning and may not be detected by satellites.
Cleveland is about 940 miles southwest of Anchorage, on a remote and uninhabited island in the Aleutians chain.
The observatory says the last significant eruption of the 5,676-foot volcano began in February 2001 and eventually produced a lava flow that reached the ocean. There were minor eruptions in January, June and October 2009.

Johannesburg – Four Transnet Freight Rail workers were killed and two others seriously injured when a train collided head-on with a motorised track maintenance trolley on Tuesday, the Railway Safety Regulator said.
Spokesperson Lavinia Mahlangu said the trolley had been part of scheduled maintenance when the accident occurred in Letaba outside Tzaneen in Limpopo.
“The collision resulted in the deaths of four staff. Two others were seriously injured and are now in hospital,” she said.
All six were occupants of the maintenance trolley. The driver of the train and the train assistant were unharmed.
The train was transporting citrus fruit from the farming town of Letsitele to Tzaneen.
“The line is closed for clean-up operations. At this stage the circumstances leading to the collision are still under investigation,” she said adding that the Railway Safety Regulator was investigating the incident.

BRUSSELS — A commuter train ran a stop signal during morning rush hour and collided head-on with another train in a Brussels suburb Monday, killing at least 18 people and injuring 55 in Belgium’s deadliest train wreck in decades, officials said.
The impact peeled away the front of one train car and threw at least one other off the tracks, causing amputations and other severe injuries, witnesses and officials said. Train service across Western Europe was disrupted.
The Flanders provincial crisis center said in a statement carried by the Belgian media that at least 18 people were killed. Thirty survivors remained hospitalized, several of them in a “very serious” condition, the statement said.
Lodewijk De Witte, the governor of the province of Flemish Brabant, told reporters that one train “apparently did not heed a stop light.”
The trains collided in light snow just outside of the station at Buizingen around 8:30 a.m.
The force of the collision smashed one train deep into the front of the other, tearing back the metal sides. The trains tipped high into the air and broke overhead power lines.
One of the front cars appeared to have careened across the tracks, demolishing a small maintenance shed next to the rail line. A high concrete wall around the train yard seemed to have kept debris from hitting nearby houses.
It appeared to be the country’s worst train wreck since 1954, when a crash near Leuven killed 20 German soccer fans and seriously injured 40 others. In March 28, 2001, eight people died when a crowded train plowed into an empty train driving on the wrong tracks.
Belgian National Railways spokesman Jochen Goovaerts said his agency was awaiting the outcome of the investigation before discussing the cause of Monday’s accident.

New Supernova Discovery Nixes Dark Matter Theory
Astronomers have reported a whole new type of exploding star, or supernova, which seems to spew out calcium and titanium. While most press reports have focused on the calcium, it’s the titanium that’s really interesting – the finding could negate ongoing efforts to find signs of dark matter at the center of the Milky Way.
The team of astronomers, led by Hagai Perets, now at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, and Avishay Gal-Yam of the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, presents evidence that supernova SN 2005E is distinct from the two main classes of supernovae: the Type Ia supernovae, thought to be old, white dwarf stars that accrete matter from a companion until they undergo a thermonuclear explosion that blows them apart entirely; and Type Ib/c or Type II supernovae, thought to be hot, massive and short-lived stars that explode and leave behind black holes or neutron stars.
Perets and colleagues describe a scenario with a pair of orbiting white dwarf stars, where one SN 2005E and arguing that it is distinct from the two main classes of supernovae: the Type Ia supernovae, thought to be old, white dwarf stars that accrete matter from a companion until they undergo a thermonuclear explosion that blows them apart entirely; and Type Ib/c or Type II supernovae, thought to be hot, massive and short-lived stars that explode and leave behind black holes or neutron stars.
One theory of this new exploding system is that a low mass white dwarf steals helium from a companion until the mass thief becomes very hot and dense until the temperature and pressure ignited a thermonuclear explosion – a massive fusion bomb – that blew off at least the outer layers of the star and perhaps blew the entire star to smithereens. The helium is transformed into elements such as calcium and titanium, eventually producing the building blocks of life for future generations of stars.
The titanium is radioactive and emits positrons as it decays. Over the past couple of years, there have been reports from experiments such as ATIC and PAMELA of an excess of positrons coming from deep space. This excess, it has been argued, is a signature of dark matter particles colliding. But if the new supernova finding is anything to go by, these explosions could be quite commonplace and they could be the source of the excess positrons.
While this does not prove or disprove the existence of dark matter, it challenges the interpretation that the excess positrons are coming from the annihilation of dark matter particles. The WMAP, which supports the “concordance (Λ-CDM) model” of the Universe with up to 73% dark energy, 23% dark matter and 4% comprising all the matter in observable universe, has been under attack. Critics state that claims for the existence of invisible, unknown forces, to support a Big Bang theory where it is admitted that over 90% of the universe it seeks to explain cannot even be detected, is not what Karl Popper would have called “science.”.

Researchers discover the plasmaron, a new quasiparticle By Casey Johnston | Last updated 3 months ago A new quasiparticle has been discovered, according to a report published in Science on Thursday. The new phenomenon, called a “plasmaron,” was found in a sample of doped graphene, where it appeared courtesy of the material’s unusual arrangement of electrons in its electron cloud. Because the behavior of the quasiparticle is different from that of its individual components, researchers should be able to use this new knowledge to make better predictions of the atomic and molecular states present in graphene, and keep watch for the appearance of plasmarons in similar materials. A quasiparticle is not a sort-of particle, as the name implies, but usually represents a combination of a bulk effect and a material. For example, an electron is only a particle, but an electron that blocks the attraction between another electron and a proton could act as a quasiparticle. A quasiparticle can also be purely effect, like plasmons, which are quantum packets of excitation in the electrons in a metal. To find quasiparticles, researchers often have to be able to isolate a single particle behaving a particular way—not always an easy task. When these particular researchers looked at graphene doped with potassium and its band structure (the energies that electrons can occupy), they found one spot where holes left by electrons exhibited unusual behavior—their movement couldn’t be described by the normal set of rules. They realized that the intersection of charge bands caused the holes to have greater binding energy than usual, and that these are actually able to exert plasmon effects on their environment. The combination meant they had a new quasiparticle on their hands: the plasmaron. The appearance of the quasiparticle seems like a highly specialized case, since it was found in a specific material prepared a special way. Still, knowing its behavior and weird manipulation of energy will allow researchers to account for it more fully when modeling uses of graphene, as well as look for it to crop up in similar electron-hole situations. In 1519, WHEN Cortez landed in Mexico posing as the god Quetzalcoatl*. I get visions of this all the time. Especially recently. THE MAYANS WERE EXPECTING A PLUMED SERPENT, … They got a SHORT SPANIARD in SNAKE-SKIN boots and a pointed goatee … with DELUSIONS of grandeur.
AN EASY MISTAKE. … IT WAS PROBABLY THE FLAMENCO DANCING THAT CONVINCED THEM.
*Quetzalcoatl (NOTE: Actually, it was KuKulcan to the Mayans. He was later named Quetzalcoatl by the Aztecs – Christian) The Mayan supreme god, to whom the Mayas attributed many functions. Not only was he a god of the four elements, he was also a creator god.
SOME SCIENTIFIC INSIGHT FROM THE INTERNET: Betelgeuse is projected by science to be only 6 – 10 million years old. Its distance is about 430-640 light-years. A couple supernovae go off in our galaxy every century. But for one of these to have serious consequences for Earth, we would need to be roughly within a 10 light-year radius of the blast.
Betelgeuse will probably be firs.t It will go supernova within 1,000 years…if it hasn’t done so already. It won’t pose a danger since its polar axis isn’t pointed toward us (they say that would put us at risk of a gamma ray burst), but it will be so hugely bright that it will almost be like a second Sun; it will be many times brighter than the full Moon. Betelgeuse is a red supergiant, and one of the largest and most luminous stars known.
